From 1969 to 2010, 21 bronze carillon bells hung in the Bruges Belfry. Replicas of these bells were made and the originals donated to “De Jenz” to be turned into a modernised, user-friendly installation.
Wood type: LDCwood® ThermoWood® Fraké
Durability class: 2
Year: 2020
Artist duo “De Jenz” immediately embarked on the task of creating the “Bellen Spel” (“bell play”), inviting visitors to enjoy the magnificent panorama of Bruges while ringing bells set inside two overlapping, semi-circular, perforated wooden walls.
The distinctive pitches of the different bells span almost two octaves.
Visitors can move around the wooden sculpture to ring a chime. An interactive set of bells that introduces the public to ThermoWood® Fraké.
